Kaifeng North is the high speed train station closest to the symposium.  You can transfer to Kaifeng North from Zhengzhou East Railway Station

Henan university will be providing shuttle buses from Xinzheng Airport and Kaifeng North.  Further details will be confirmed shortly.  International delegates have been asked to provide their arrival and departure details to ensure the shuttle is available for their arrival.

Visas and Passports

Please check the visa application process and requirements with the Chinese embassy in your area.

If you require a letter of invitation for a visa, the New Phytologist Foundation, together with our local organisers, will provide a letter of invitation upon request. To be eligible, you must first register and pay to attend the Symposium. Once you have registered, please contact the Events and Promotions Manager to request a visa invitation letter.  You can enter your passport details on this secure form.

Due to the fact that an application for a visa can be a lengthy process, the New Phytologist Foundation recommends that you start your visa application process early: 90 to 120 days prior to the conference. We would also like to note that in issuing you with a letter of invitation, it is not a commitment from the symposium or the organisers to provide any financial support, and you will still need to apply for a visa.

Passports

Your passport must be carried at all times during your stay in China. The police may carry out random checks, and you will need your passport for entering museums or buying train tickets.

Your passport must be valid for at least six months after the expiry date of your visa (nine months for a double-entry visa) and you will need at least one entire blank page in your passport for the visa. It is recommended that you make a digital copy of your passport prior to travelling to China in case you lose it while traveling. If you lose your passport while in China, you must immediately report the loss to the nearest police station and obtain a police report of the loss. You will then need to inform the local Public Security Bureau (PSB).

Entry Requirements

All delegates should ensure that they have adequate health and travel insurance for their stay.

From 30 August 2023, China has removed COVID-19 entry requirements and travellers into China are no longer required to undertake any testing before boarding flights.  From 1 November 2023 Travellers entering and exiting China are no longer required to fill in the Health Declaration Form.

Passengers entering China displaying symptoms of fever, or with an abnormal Health Declaration, may be asked to undertake a rapid antigen test on arrival. Those who test positive will be asked to wear a mask and may be advised to self-isolate whilst symptoms remain (although there is no mandatory self-isolation for COVID-19).

Please arrange an appointment with your health professional at least four- to six-weeks before travel in order to asses any health risks associated with your travel.  Please ensure you check about any vaccination requirements, particularly if you need to have a yellow fever vaccination certificate.  You may want to look at Travel Health Pro, or your countries own information about travel to China.

Travel guidance

We recommend that you carefully consult your government's travel guidance before travelling to China, which should provide advice for travellers on logistics and safety. For example, the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office travel advice or the  US Department of State travel advice.
