Arabidopsis BU1 regulates stomata closure under drought stress

Abstract

The leaf temperature of plants can reflect transpiration status, and can be monitored by Infrared imaging. In the previous studies, we generated a pool of Arabidopsis mutants through EMS and CRISPR-Cas9 mutagenesis. Together with map-based genome sequencing and infrared imaging, we isolated a mutant which shows lower leaf temperature under drought stress and named it bu1. Here, we show that BU1 affects stomata closure under drought stress. Meanwhile, we have noticed that the triple mutant of BU1 and its two homologs BU2 BU3 shows growth deficiency, indicates that the BU gene family are crucial for development as well.
