On Sun Lau is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Under the guidance of Prof. Samuel Sun, he received his BSc and MPhil degrees in Molecular Biotechnology from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Subsequently, he joined the laboratory of Prof. Xing Wang Deng at Yale University, and there, he obtained his PhD in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology. After completing his postdoctoral research in the laboratory of Prof. Dominique Bergmann at Stanford University, he joined NUS as an assistant professor in 2016. He currently also holds the positions of Assistant Head (Research and Graduate Matters) in his department and Associate Director of the Centre of Sustainable Urban Farming at NUS. On Sun's research group focusses on studying how external signals impact cell fate, using the development of stomatal guard cells in plants as a model.
