Free places for Brazilian researchers

The New Phytologist Foundation is happy to extend a number of free registrations to researchers based in Brazil. We also encourage these researchers to share a poster* of their current research that complements the symposium topic. This can be on any aspect of plant or fungal invasion, or a related topic. Please fill in this short form to apply. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis, and interested attendees are encouraged to apply early. No further applications will be accepted after 14 June.

Free registrations includes:

  • Access to all three days of the symposium, including lunch during the symposium, and coffee break refreshments.

It does not include the Saturday field trip, pre-symposium workshop or symposium dinner.

Attendees are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs.

Preference for free places will be given to PhD students/Post-docs studying relevant/complementary topics, but we will also consider Masters and Undergraduate students.

* posters will not be eligible for the poster competition

Volunteers needed

We are also looking for volunteers for the symposium, please indicate your interest in volunteering via this form as well. Voluntary places are suitable for students and early career researchers. Volunteers will be invited to join the symposium dinner and field trip.

Volunteers should be based in Campinas or Sao Paulo, and should be comfortable with basic conversational English, including providing directions and assistance to non-Portuguese-speaking delegates. Volunteer roles still allow full attendance at the symposium. Further details will be discussed with any volunteers directly. Volunteers should register their interest via the form by 17 May.

Please contact Christine Phillips, Events and Promotions Manager with any questions.

Pre-symposium workshop

A two-day pre-symposium workshop on “Application of multi-omics to plant-fungal interactions” will be held on Monday 24 and Tuesday 25 June 2024.

The workshop is open to individuals not attending the symposium and there will be no charge to attend. However, attendees will need to fund their own travel, food, and accommodation.

Full details about the workshop.

We have a limited number of travel grants available. To apply for a travel grant, you must also submit an abstract for consideration.
